Nan Gall Fire-Set
(NGT-347)
The
never-ending quest to make our industry as safe as possible has
resulted in the common use of Exploding Bridgewire (EBW) and Exploding
Foil (EFI) detonators for initiating downhole explosives.
The safety aspect of these detonators lies in the fact that they
contain only Secondary Explosives as opposed to the “blasting
caps” which rely on Primary Explosives. Normal hot work
and radio communications do not need to be interrupted as these
detonators cannot be initiated by stray voltages or radio frequencies.
They require extremely high voltages (>500volts for EBW and
>1,400volts for EFI) for a very short period of time to be
detonated.
The Nan Gall Fire-Set (NGT-347) was designed exclusively for Nan
Gall by Ecosse Inc. of Houston and accepts the exact signal from
the Nan Gall Voltage Generator Module (NGT-378) to produce the
precise burst of energy required to initiate either of the devices.
The Nan Gall Fire-Set (NGT-347) is designed for one-time use and
is rated to 175°C (347°F).
